How to retrain your brain into thinking you’re the bomb!
Hey Queen, you’re pretty frickin awesome and interesting and fab at what you do…
…if only you believed it.
The curse of low-self worth has seen many a biz owner fail to live up to their potential and miss out on their dreams.
I should know, my early entrepreneurial life saw me running back to corporate every time I felt the fear — which was often!
Thankfully, things in my biz life aren’t quite so rollercoaster now, and I reckon one of the big reasons is cos I started RAC-ing my wins.
The principle of RAC is a small but mighty habit I learned from former Olympian turned mastermind coach, Jason Parker. and it’s pretty ruddy awesome!
BUT before we go deep into what it is, how to do it, and the impact it can have on you and your success, I’ve gotta few Qs for you…
🌟 What went well for you last week? What are pleased about? (Thinks hard)
🌟 How’s about what didn’t go so well, any fails or feck up’s? (Starts counting on fingertips)
I’m betting that you can call to mind last week’s screw-ups much more easily than last week’s wins?
And, I’m betting that every single day last week you did have a little (or a big) success.
That might have been getting out the door on time without screaming at the kids, saying no to dessert, publishing a blog, or committing to that workout.
But, I’m guessing these little wins passed you by. Went unnoticed, unremarked upon?
As busy biz owners and masters of Do, More, Quick, we are brilliant at ignoring our wins.
Why stop and smell the roses when there are 10 more to-do’s to tick off the list?
But every time we ignore our wins or focus on what went wrong, we minimise the positive and elevate the negative.
And that ain’t good.
Thoughts ➡️ Feelings ➡️ Behaviours
Our thoughts affect our feelings which drive our behaviors
It’s a simple equation, one that goes like this…
I Think that the client meeting went really well, I do know what I’m talking about!
I Feel super confident in my abilities,
I’m gonna Behave like the expert I know I am and go live on social!
Now just imagine if that amazing session with a client was glossed over, or worse, picked apart for the things that didn’t go so well.
Do you think our imaginary biz owner would be feeling so self-assured and ready to show up?
Naw, nor me.
If you’re your own biggest critic, it’s time to RAC!
RAC = Recognise, Acknowledge, Celebrate
This is one of those super easy habits to master; so simple you’ll probably just read this and move on.
BUT don’t do that!
This mental habit takes seconds but does have the potential to make a HUGE impact on your success.
It simply starts with knowing what you want in your biz or life, then RAC-ing every time you do something that moves you closer to your goals.
Just notice what you’ve done, take a moment to recognise it as a success. This could be as straightforward as saying to yourself I did that, well done me!
Express gratitude for what you’ve done.
Acknowledge that you’re working towards your goals. Acknowledge the effort and energy that got you there and start to feel it inside your body; own this success.
This is the most important part of the three steps. Cos it’s fun!!
You don’t have to go live and shout loud about your win (but fill ya boots if you wanna)
It can be much more simple and private than that….just celebrate by doing something physical; pat yourself on the back, give yourself a hi-five, or do a victory dance. This is all about locking in the win
Alrighty, if you’re thinking this whole thing is a bit lame, it’s way too easy to be effective, shush!
Coach Jason went from hardly making his team to winning an Olympic gold using this technique. And it’s worked for me too.
I’ve been RAC-ing my wins since last December…looky here 👇🏻
So why is this RAC formula so darn powerful?
Simples: It’s all about momentum.
Every time you recognise a win you create momentum. You re-train your subconscious to focus on the positive feelings which drives inspired action.
And, as you well know folks, small breakthroughs over time create big successes.
So, my Q to you folks,
Where could you be in 12 months’ time in your business, your relationships or your health if start to focus on your successes and forget about the failures?
⭐ I challenge you, at the end of today pause and take some time to RAC your wins ⭐ (Then do it tomorrow, and the day after — lock in this habit!)
The size of the success doesn’t matter, cos every success is a step towards the future you’re creating.
Happy RAC-ing people 😊
